Four Ways to Give

There are several convenient ways to financially support the ministry of Valley Community Baptist Church.

  • Online giving: Online giving allows your gift to be deducted automatically from a checking account. You may set up online gifts as a one-time donation or as recurring gifts.
  • Via the Valley App:  Using your credit or debit card, you can give a one-time or recurring gift through the Valley App on your phone or tablet. Download the app for free by searching "valley community baptist."

How to Excel in the Grace of Giving

Pastor Jay Abramson explains the three levels, or "depths" of giving as outlined in the Bible. Here are sermon excerpts from each of those levels: Obligatory (tithing), Voluntary and Sacrificial. Introduction to Giving

God doesn’t want something from you; He wants something for you. More than you could ask for or imagine. The stewardship of our finances is a tremendous—and often overlooked—area of our lives where we can faithfully proclaim the gospel.

Giving strengthens our devotion to Christ and frees us to live open-handedly with the gifts God gives us. We trust in Him and His provision instead of our perceived self-sufficiency. As people of faith, we give faithfully and generously.

Why Do We Give?

We believe the top competitor for our devotion to Jesus is money (Matthew 6:24). Giving allows us to demonstrate that He is more important to us than material things.

We believe you can’t outgive God, so when you’re trusting Him with your tithes and offerings we know that He will bless the rest (Proverbs 3:9-10 and Malachi 3:10-12).

We think Christians should be the most generous people (2 Corinthians 9:6) on earth to support worthy causes, and there is no organization with more potential to change the world than the local church (Ephesians 3:10)!

What is Tithing?

A tithe – which just means “tenth” – is defined as the first 10% of a person’s income that is to be given back to the local church. Tithing is a principle that is taught throughout the entire Bible. When we tithe, we are expressing worship in a tangible way by putting God first in our lives.

Bringing our tithes is an opportunity for us to give God our thanks, show God we trust Him, and fight against greed in our hearts…all while allowing us to be a part of the most important work in life that is spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ!

If you would like to read more about what the Bible has to say about tithing, check out these passages: Leviticus 27:30, Proverbs 3:9-10, Malachi 3:6-10, Matthew 6:19-24 and 1 Corinthians 16:1, 2.
