Fall Class & Group Descriptions

Study of Ruth and Esther  | Alan Fosberry:  This in-depth, six-lesson study shows God caring for His people, bringing good from hardship. Ruth's and Esther's courage and faith will inspire you to hope — no matter what hurdles you face. The books of Ruth and Esther show ordinary women in extraordinary difficult situations. In spite of extreme hardship and probable disaster, they continue to trust God - even when He seems distant. Starts September 11. REGISTER HERE

Women's Bible Study: The Quest | Jeannette Brennan: Curiosity is hardwired in humanity. We have this innate need to question and seek what we don’t know or understand. This Bible study by Beth Moore delves into Scripture to explore how God created us to seek after Him — a God who desires to be found and known. Learn to develop your intimacy with Him and embrace the adventure that comes with living a life for God. Book cost: $18. Starts September 12. REGISTER HERE

Women's Bible Study: Listen, Love, Repeat | Tracy Scarborough: Join us as we study Listen, Love, Repeat a six-session Karen Ehman video Bible study. Our culture is self-obsessed in our schedules, relationships, and especially online. So why are people less content than in decades past? Because we forget the joy that comes from putting others first. Doing so requires us to live alertly, listening for “heart drops": hints from those in our lives who need a helping hand or a generous dose of encouragement. Cost for Book and Workbook: $22. Starts September 18 at 7 p.m. at The Hub (17 Farmington Avenue in Plainville). REGISTER HERE.

Parent Group: Intentional Parenting | Jerry Costley - Raising kids in today’s culture is a difficult challenge and requires a plan. Without one, parents usually default to quick-fix solutions. Let’s face it: it’s just easier to focus on immediate problems rather than deal with the deeper and more important ones. To be an exceptional parent, you need to be an intentional parent. This six-week series will help you in that effort. Book cost: $20 per couple. Starts September 12.  REGISTER HERE

Precept: Women's Bible Study | LuAnn Turbiak: Luke’s first account was his Gospel, where he recorded what Jesus did and taught. His second account is called Acts, or the Acts of the Apostles, in which Luke recorded what happened after Jesus’ ascension to the Father. Learn how God spread the Gospel through witnesses of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and from their examples, how you too can witness to others. Book Cost: $20. Starts September 12.  REGISTER HERE

Second Coming Prophecy: Conditions unfolding throughout the world seem to support the return soon of Jesus Christ.  Without speculating or setting dates for His return, we will consider the fascinating topic from several biblically-centered perspectives. Starts September 12. REGISTER HERE

Prayer Group: Do you enjoy praying for others? The team prays through the prayer card requests turned in during the worship services. Ongoing. REGISTER HERE

ESL Class: Learn conversational English by speaking with friendly ESL instructors about everyday topics. This class is free for adults who speak other languages.  REGISTER HERE

The Book of Revelation | Rob Grosso: A chapter by chapter study of this book that gives a picture into the future. Starts September 12.  REGISTER HERE

Community Bible Study: Book of Acts - Students will see the Holy Spirit working through the lives of the apostles and the believers in the early church. This course includes pertinent applications for today's believers and strong teaching on the foundations of the church - Jesus Christ.                             Starts September 7. To register contact Irene Mosher at 860.758.7163 or email frognana@aol.com.

ESL Bible Study (Women) | Val Prado, Sandy Martin - meets the first and third Thursday of each month from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Library at the Avon Campus. There will be a focus on reading comprehension and conversation as together we read the book None Like Him by Jen Wilkin. The study will begin October 19. No registration required. For more information, contact Val Prado.
