Welcome to Valley Community Baptist Church. We are one church in multiple locations with campuses in Avon and Bristol, CT. Our mission is to honor God and grow in Christ by worshipping God, equipping believers, bringing people to Christ and serving our neighbors. We would be honored to have you join us

Worship Service Times & Styles

We worship together on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m in the Sanctuary in Avon. There's also a service at 10:30 a.m. at the Avon Campus in The Venue. There are communal dinners on most Saturday and Tuesday evenings at the Avon Campus. We also meet as small groups and classes throughout the week.  We look forward to meeting you.

Avon: 590 West Avon Road, Avon, Connecticut. Get directions and contact information.

Bristol: 718 Pine Street, Bristol Connecticut. We meet at Greene-Hills School in Bristol.

Children & Students

We encourage families to worship together on the weekend, and then choose children's programs and communities for middle school and high school students. During the week, we offer age-specific clubs and gatherings for children, middle school and high school students

There are also special events like summer camps, student retreats and the family summit that will help children and parents grow in their relationships with each other and God.

At Valley Community Baptist Church, we value knowing the truth of God and obeying His Word. Senior Pastor Jay Abramson is the lead teaching pastor. We invite you to listen to the latest sermon series.

At Valley, we seek to meet middle school and high school students right where they are and encourage them to grow in their relationship with God. We believe these years are vital to the longevity of a young person's faith. As a result, we want students to worship together, get connected, dig into the Bible, grow in their faith and lead the way. We are focused on helping parents equip their middle school and high school students to be disciples of Jesus.

We believe that faith is both formed and deepened in the context of authentic relationships with each other and with God. And so our hope is that students will know the God who made them and the immense hope and joy the Gospel has to offer, and carry that with them both now and for a lifetime.

Worship Together

At Valley, we value worship that includes the entire Body of Christ. Today, many students in America graduate from high school having experienced only youth ministry at their churches. We've seen this pattern negatively impact the longevity of their adult faith.

We believe that students grow as they worship with the generations that have come before them and we celebrate when our families are together for that purpose. At Valley we offer different services in different locations. Find one that works best for your family.

Get Connected

middle school

Riot and Huddle Night Out are our midweek gatherings. All middle school students, Grades 6-8, from all Valley locations, are invited to come and meet with us on Wednesday nights at the Avon Campus.

At Riot, students engage in fun activities and hear Bible teaching relevant to their everyday lives. Students then break into small groups called "Huddles" where they become more acquainted with their peers and leaders as they encourage each other in their faith.

Huddle Night Out (HNO) is an opportunity for a Huddle to share experiences off-campus. These happen 2-3 times during the year instead of regular Riot programs. Many of our students' most memorable moments have happened at an HNO. We ask our Huddle leaders to plan, finalize and communicate to parents their plans for the HNO at least one week in advance.

High School

Synergy and Life Groups are the alternating formats of our weekly gatherings outside Sunday Morning Community. They offer environments where students can connect to Christ and His community.

On Synergy weeks, students from all Valley locations come to the Avon Campus on Wednesday evening and start by choosing from a variety of activities: hanging out in the café and enjoying some food, playing competitive games, etc. Students then gather for live music by our high school worship band and a relevant message shared by a fellow high school student or adult leader. Finally, students break into Life Groups where they become more acquainted with each other and their leaders as they grow together in faith.

On Life Group weeks, students meet with their respective Life Groups in various locations. Life Groups offer a unique atmosphere for students and leaders to "do life together" and support each other as they seek to follow Christ, not just in church, but in life as a whole. A customized curriculum is designed by each Life Group leader to best meet the spiritual needs of his or her students.

Upcoming events

Retreats, trips, overnights and service projects are priceless! Getting students away from their everyday life and everyday distractions often provides the perfect soil for spiritual growth, passion and relationships. Check out what we have for our upcoming events so you don't miss out!

Root Your Faith & Lead the Way

middle school

On Sundays at the Avon Campus, we offer students an opportunity to take their faith deeper in a way that meets them where they are.

Amp40 is a 40-minute age-specific teaching time when students connect with each other and discuss relevant issues in the context of biblical teaching. Students begin the service worshipping with their families, and are dismissed from the service before the sermon during the 9 a.m. service. Parents may choose to keep their child in the service or send their child to Amp40 in Room 305.

Amp70 is specifically for students with parents who are serving or attending a community and also takes place during the 9 a.m. Sunday service. Amp70 meets in Room 305.

The Student Ministry Team (SMT) is the student leadership core of the middle school ministry. The team meets monthly to serve, grow in leadership skills, and encourage one another to be an example of Jesus everywhere they go. We expect the students on this team not only to learn God's Word, but also apply it every day at home and at school. It truly is where the rubber of their faith meets the road of life! This team meets monthly at the Avon Campus. All seventh and eighth-graders can apply.

Sunday Morning Community meets at 9 a.m. at the Avon Campus and offers high school students the opportunity to establish a Christian worldview, get rooted in the Bible and find belonging and support as they prepare to follow Christ in the real world. Students will learn on their level as they choose electives relevant to them. Sample electives include:

  • "Surviving + Thriving as a Christian in a Secular School"
  • "Ethical Questions Our World is Faced with Daily"
  • "Experiencing God"
  • "Understanding ONE God: Perspectives from the Old Testament & New Testament"

Students will also be encouraged to act on their faith and live it out through a variety of service opportunities. This gathering does not replace a worship service at the Avon Campus, but complements it. Please identify a worship service for you and your family at a different hour if you attend Sunday Morning Community.

Student Worship Band + Tech is not only an outlet for students who are musically or technically inclined, it's also just one of the many opportunities we have church-wide for students to serve and lead, whether it's from up front or behind the scenes. This band is open to all high school students who'd like to come and try out.
