Welcome to Valley Community Baptist Church. We are one church in multiple locations with campuses in Avon and Bristol, CT. Our mission is to honor God and grow in Christ by worshipping God, equipping believers, bringing people to Christ and serving our neighbors. We would be honored to have you join us

Children & Students

We encourage families to worship together on the weekend, and then choose children's programs and communities for middle school and high school students. During the week, we offer age-specific clubs and gatherings for children, middle school and high school students

There are also special events like summer camps, student retreats and the family summit that will help children and parents grow in their relationships with each other and God.

At Valley Community Baptist Church, we value knowing the truth of God and obeying His Word. Senior Pastor Jay Abramson is the lead teaching pastor. We invite you to listen to the latest sermon series.

Senior Pastor Transition

Jay Abramson informed the Elder Board that he believed God was making it clear that he was in the final phase of his ministry at Valley Community Baptist Church. After nearly 30 years in ministry at Valley, including 25 years as Senior Pastor, he announced at the February Congregational Meeting that he would be retiring in 2020.

Pastor Search Committee

As mandated by our Constitution, Valley's search committee will consist of eight people: the four current members of the Standing Search Committee, three Valley members as approved by the congregation, and one Elder as appointed by the Elder Board.

We need your help! Click here to nominate someone for the Elders to consider as a Search Committee member. Remember that nominees should have longstanding experience as attenders and leaders at Valley, and are required to be members of Valley.

Three nominees will be recommended by the Elder Board and presented to the Congregation for potential approval at our special March 31 Congregational Meeting,

About This Page

This page will serve as the communications hub for the entire Senior Pastor Transition process at Valley. Feel free to bookmark and check occasionally for updates and new content. Our goal is to keep you as informed as possible during the transition.

We will also try to answer questions about the transition that would be of widespread interest. Email Communications Director Mike Guersch if you have a question you'd like to see answered in this space.

UPDATE: MARCH 15, 2019

Thank you for all the great nominations for candidates for the Senior Pastor Search Committee!

The names have been submitted to the Elder Board. The Board will select three people for approval at the special March 31 Congregational Meeting. If approved, those three people will join the four members of the Standing Search Committee and one Board-appointed elder to form the full eight-person committee.

Congregational Meeting: Please make plans to join us for a special all-church Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 31, at 5 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. You have to be a member to vote, but you do not have to be a member to attend.

Please continue to pray over the search committee process, for your Elder Board, our future Senior Pastor, and Jay and Liz Abramson during this transition time.

We want this space to be the information hub for the entire search process. If you have a question that might be of general interest, please email our Communications Director for consideration. Thanks for your participation!
