Welcome to Valley Community Baptist Church. We are one church in multiple locations with campuses in Avon and Bristol, CT. Our mission is to honor God and grow in Christ by worshipping God, equipping believers, bringing people to Christ and serving our neighbors. We would be honored to have you join us

Worship Service Times & Styles

Each weekend, there are six worship services in two locations: Sundays at 10 a.m. at Greene-Hills School in Bristol. Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8, 9:30, and 11:15 a.m in the Sanctuary in Avon. There's also a service at 11:15 a.m. at the Avon Campus in The Venue. There are communal dinners on most Saturday and Tuesday evenings at the Avon Campus. We also meet as small groups and classes throughout the week.  We look forward to meeting you.

Avon: 590 West Avon Road, Avon, Connecticut. Get directions and contact information.

Bristol: 718 Pine Street, Bristol Connecticut. We meet at Greene-Hills School in Bristol.

Children & Students

We encourage families to worship together on the weekend, and then choose children's programs and communities for middle school and high school students. During the week, we offer age-specific clubs and gatherings for children, middle school and high school students

There are also special events like summer camps, student retreats and the family summit that will help children and parents grow in their relationships with each other and God.

At Valley Community Baptist Church, we value knowing the truth of God and obeying His Word. Senior Pastor Jay Abramson is the lead teaching pastor. We invite you to listen to the latest sermon series.

Valley Bristol

Valley Bristol Thanksgiving Drive

Last year, Valley Bristol attenders donated and delivered 85 complete Thanksgiving dinners to families in need in the Bristol area. Not only did we bless our neighborhoods, but we also saw several recipients at church after that!

Given that success, we're ready to do it again this year, and we're increasing our goal to 100 dinners! We know Valley Bristol is up to the challenge. Here's what you need to know:

We will once again be part of the Lauren E. Avezzie Charitable Foundation's annual Thanksgiving drive. We're doing the Bristol area, of course! There are two stages to this event: Donations and Delivery.

Donations: We need to collect food to make complete meals. The Avezzie Foundation contributes the actual turkeys. You can start bringing in food this Sunday, or pick up a blue bag at the service and return it to Greene-Hills the following Sunday, or to Bridge Community Church on Wednesday Group Night. Here's the complete food list:

         Apple or cranberry juice

Apple, blueberry, or cherry pie filling

         Bags of potatoes

         Canned fruit or pie filling

         Canned gravy or gravy mix

         Canned or packaged milk

         Canned vegetables

         Canned yams or sweet potatoes

         Corn Muffin Mix

         Cranberry sauce

         Disposable aluminum turkey baking pan

         Fresh carrots

Gift Card from Shop Rite, Stop & Shop or Walmart

         Macaroni and Cheese (boxed)

Pie crust mix or ready-made pie crusts

         Potato Mix

         Stuffing Mix (Pepperidge Farm Preferred)

Delivery:  We need 20 drivers (plus helpers) to deliver the collection of food on Tuesday, November 20. Each car will delivery five meals; the delivery window will be 3-7:30 p.m. (though it won't take the full time). You will be blessed to see the responses from the families, all of whom are nominated by the Greene-Hills Family Resource Center and other Bristol schools. If you'd like to sign up to deliver or help deliver (a great way for a family to serve at Thanksgiving), email Paul Semanski.

More details will follow for serving opportunities on the days leading up to November 20 as we sort and pack the baskets.

We are excited to be able to serve the needy this way once again this year! Can we get from 85 to 100 in one year? Email Paul Semanski if you have questions or want to help.

"Spiritual Transformation" Group Night

You've never had a group experience like this! The small-group experience at Valley Bristol continues this week with the "Spiritual Transformation" series led by Pastor Andrew. This event is for existing groups as well as those who want to see what being in a group is all about. Each evening starts out with a light meal, followed by large-group teaching and then small discussion groups.

This event is for the entire family. Childcare is available for kids in Grade 5 and younger, and Valley Bristol Students will have their own gathering at the same time (middle and high school).

The light dinner begins at 6 p.m. at Bridge Community Church, 43 School St., Bristol (map below)

valley bristol students gather wednesday

Middle and high school students, grades 6-12, are encouraged to join us Wednesday, September 12 as we begin another memorable year together! Don't try to figure out life and school all by yourself. We'll have lots of laughs as we get to know God and each other well as we gather each Wednesday at Bridge Community Church. Brad Barcusky will once again lead the group!

Bristol Campus Pastor Andrew Southwick

Pastor Andrew joined Valley Community Baptist Church in late May, 2018, from Yakima, Washington. Andrew has a church-planting background, including serving as co-pastor for a Converge church plant in Florida. He is also an experienced worship leader and spent several years touring as a professional musician.

Andrew and his wife, Rebecca, have five children. They reside in Bristol.

Join Us This Week

SUNDAY | 10 a.m. | Greene-Hills School  |  718 Pine St.  |  Bristol, CT

Yeah, our Bristol Campus church meets in a gym. Sound strange? Perhaps, but we're informal, authentic, and just trying to keep it real. Just like you. We have no pews, no hymnals, no steeples. We're a bunch of people getting together and getting closer to God through the Bible. As one of our new attendees said: "Valley is refreshingly modern, relaxed, and welcoming of everyone -- imperfections and all." So join us this week at Greene-Hills School in Bristol, Connecticut, even if you're not so much about this whole church thing. We believe God has a plan for you. There's a chair awaiting you in our gym.

What about my kids?

Our trained and background-checked volunteer teachers and helpers offer a great Children's Ministry program at our Bristol Campus. We offer age-appropriate learning environments for the smallest of babies up through fifth grade. Dedicated teachers for newborns/walkers, 2s and 3s, and Pre-K / Kindergartners will be ready for your children starting at 9:45 a.m.

Your first- through fifth-grader will enjoy some great music and prayer at the beginning of the service, then they will head over to their communities (or, if you prefer of course, they can stay for the message). We also have a Middle School Ministry during that time. If you have children in fifth grade or younger, allow yourself a few extra minutes so you can check them in if they're attending one of our terrific Children's Ministry areas. If you have questions about our children's programs, please contact Paul Semanski by email or at 860.673.6826 x113.

What should I expect? What should I wear?

We believe that every Sunday should start with a smile. Our experienced Welcome Desk volunteers are there to make sure you know where to go. If you have children, check them in, and then follow the crowd down to the school gym. Wear something totally comfortable or your "Sunday Best" -- doesn't matter to us! Your wardrobe, church background or politics don't matter to us. We're here to grow deeper in God and worship Jesus.

Our campus leaders will gather all of us together and launch us into a time of praise and prayer. You can sing along with the live band or just consider the words on the screen. We'll have an offering time, but if you're visiting please just pass the plate on -- you're our guest and there's no pressure to do anything. We just invite you to have an open heart and consider what God might be saying to you on any given Sunday (or any day!).

After the service, there is a time of fellowship and community right there in the gym. Our staff and leaders would love to meet you and say hi. Don't forget to pick up your kids first!

About Valley Community Baptist Church

Valley is one church meeting in three locations: Avon, Bristol, and Simsbury. In Bristol, sermons are provided by Senior Pastor Jay Abramson (usually by video) or Bristol Campus Pastor Andrew Southwick (live).
